Stimpy
An experimental short film and early lo-fi video of my cat, Stimpy, looking through a window at me on a cold, wet day—except I'm not there. The film jumps between my cat sitting still (but weirdly looped like hes on the train), and the train's blasting through brutalist blocks and flat grey fields. He's outside and dramatic. I'm inside, but in a metal tube going 80mph. The soundtracks a mechanical roar of the tracks and thin, icy wind as Stimpy meows.
It's funny and sad, and lonely, it has a haunted cat mime vibe. It's basically about presence and absence, but in a low-stakes,way. I know I'm overthinking it, but the combination of bad weather, train noise, and damp Stimpy, longing to come in, doing his “abandoned Victorian child” face, brings out the tension and melodrama.( I let him in...)
